FreeSpace 2 is a 1999 space combat simulation computer game developed by Volition, Inc. as the sequel to Descent: FreeSpace – The Great War. It was completed ahead of schedule in less than a year, and released to great critical acclaim. Engrossing gameplay, excellent sound effects in addition to the inclusion of vocal talent such as Robert Loggia and Ronny Cox led several gaming sites to have proclaimed it as the definitive simulation game for 1999.

I’ve got a laptop (Compaq Presario R3000) that has no battery. It worked decently enough when plugged in, but recently, it’s internal hard drive failed. I’ve removed the faulty drive (which had Windows XP installed on it) and plugged in my external hard drive. Looking to use this frankenstein laptop as a media center, and so I’d like to install XBMC onto it as an operating system. I’ve downloaded and burned a disc for XBMC 9.11 (most recent XBMC live cd) but I do not want the install to erase the files on the external drive (namely, the dozens of gigs of media files that I want XBMC to eventually play)...

Subject: warning, huge 2.6.23-stable review cycle about to start

Ok, I've been slacking on the -stable front for a bit here, and didn't
realize how far behind I've gotten. Everyone has been sending patches
in, which is great, but now we are facing a HUGE 114 patch release.
As there's no real way that everyone can review all of these patches,
I've decided to split them up into 6 different categories, and will be
sending patches out in these categories for review. If people can just
glance over the ones in the areas they care about, I would really
appreciate it.
The 6 categories are:
- core kernel changes
- arch specific changes
- networking changes
- network driver changes
